I am Jay Shapiro. I've worked at all stages of production for over a decade. My biggest public success was a feature length documentary I directed and edited entitled 'Opposite Field' which a had successful run at major film festivals (Toronto International, DOC NYC, Riverrun, Miami, New York, Trinidad etc...) and currently is available through streaming and purchase on all the usual digital platforms (Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, etc...). CNN Inside Africa featured me and the project in a piece that is worth checking out if you want to see me in action: CNN Inside Africa

The project was also featured by The New York Times, NPR, and ABC. The film spanned 3 years of filming in 4 countries.

I recently completed a documentary entitled ALL RISE which was filmed in 11 countries around the world. It was screened privately at the United Nations and will be screened in the Ukraine by the US Embassy in 2017.

I am currently producing, directing, and editing a documentary based on a collaborative book between Sam Harris and Maajid Nawaz entitled 'Islam and the Future of Tolerance'. Due for release in 2017. The film is being produced by Think Inc out of Australia.

I have worked as an editor on a few films that have also done well including 'Who Killed Chea ViChea?' which won a Peabody award and 'The F-Word' which enjoyed commercial success on the IFC Channel.

I began my career in Post-Production. I am proficient with all editing programs (Adobe, Avid, FCP), graphics (After Effects, Photoshop), color (Speedgrade, RED Cinex1), and all media workflows.

I have worked with some of the best brands in the commercial world from Major League Baseball, FILA, Estee Lauder, NBC Olympics, New York Red Cross, Minute Maid and more.

I have worked in large corporate settings (MLB Advanced Media) small Ad Agencies (LPNY) and as an independent filmmaker on big budget and small budget projects.

I pride myself on my creativity, resourcefulness, vision, work ethic, friendliness, attention, and diligence.

I'd love to work with you too.
